Questions, answered.

RooMate is a women-focused housing and flatmate-matching platform. Our service is designed around the safety, privacy, trust and compatibility needs that can arise when women share a home. In the UK, we operate certain RooMate features as a single-sex service under the Equality Act 2010. This means that, for certain features and listing types, access may be limited to women. We do this because we believe a women-focused service can better address the specific needs and concerns that women tell us they face when looking for a home or housemates. Our eligibility and verification processes are designed to be lawful and respectful. If you have questions about whether you can use a particular feature, please contact us.

Every RooMate member gets full access for free, forever — including government ID verification (a quick check of your passport or national ID, never stored long-term), the lifestyle compatibility quiz, and browsing all listings.

No. RooMate is not an estate agency and not a traditional listings platform. It is a trust-based matching platform.

RooMate is built around consent-based introductions, profile verification, and compatibility. Instead of sorting through random posts, users get a more intentional and trusted matching experience.

The Trust Badge shows how complete and verified a profile is. It helps people feel more confident before agreeing to an introduction.

RooMate is currently launching with a women-first approach in Greece, Paris and London in order to build a stronger trust-based early community.

Yes. RooMate is built for anyone who identifies as a woman, including trans women. Our women-first community is based on identity, not biology — everyone goes through the same ID verification and profile process, and everyone is welcome on that basis.

Landladies go through the same government ID verification process as everyone else on RooMate — a quick check of their passport or national ID, not stored long-term.
