''Do People Actually Find a Match on RooMate?" An Honest Answer From the Founder
Someone asked me this week whether people normally find matches on RooMate. I will not promise you one. Here is what I can tell you instead- including where we are strong and where we are only just starting.

Why I do not promise matches
RooMate takes no commission on rent. That is deliberate, and it also means I have no access to what happens after two women connect: whether they meet, whether one moves in, or whether they are happy a year later. A guarantee would be a claim I cannot check, so I will not make it.
What I can tell you
Some things I do see:
Listings are uploaded and then removed, because the room was rented. Members delete their accounts, and some tell me it is because they found a place.
That is quieter than a promise, but it is true, and I would rather give you a true answer than a loud one.
Where we are today
We now have 240 members, and RooMate works across Greece and in Paris, with London opening. A platform at this stage is not the same everywhere, and you deserve to know that.
Athens : our first city, with the most members and listings.
Thessaloniki : growing. Fewer homes listed, new landladies joining.
Paris : live and active.
London : opening now. Join early and be among the first.
If you search a city and see only a few homes, that is us being early, not hiding something. Join anyway, finish your profile, and you will be among the first to hear when a new home that suits you goes up.
How to give yourself the best chance
Verify your ID. Every member does, and it unlocks everything. Finish your profile and the lifestyle quiz. Our Trust Match compatibility scoring uses your answers, so the more honest and specific you are, the better the fit. Be clear about what you need. Area, budget, move-in date, and the kind of home you want. Reply quickly. Good homes move fast. Remember that nothing is shared until both sides say yes. You stay in control the whole way.
What I would tell a friend
If a friend asked me whether to try RooMate, I would not say "it will work." I would say: it is free to join, every woman on it is verified, nobody takes a cut of your rent, and I am the founder, so you can ask me anything.
